Players must go into an area with a high infestation level to encounter the Gatekeeper. When the mission to destroy the hives ends, other dungeons can now be infested by the enemies from the new area. They must acquire an invitation to get back in. Players will find the Courtyard locked off after completing the first mission. Therefore, players need to acquire as many vials as possible. Players can find and collect vials of "The Blood" as they progress through dungeons, which is what keeps the Crimson Curse in check. This is an ailment that cannot be cured by conventional means until the end of the adventure and provides a lowering of stats and a need for blood. The Crimson Court is four missions long, but they're no cakewalk, and nowhere is that more evident than in the Crimson Curse. There isn't much to this mission other than making it through and burning the three hives, but things won't be this easy again. It also introduces the first boss of the area, a recurring beast called the Crocodilian. "Burn the Hives" reveals new rooms as players complete them and introduces new vampiric, buglike Bloodsucker enemies like the manservant, supplicant and sycophant.
